International conference on lifelong learning, Thessaloniki

An international conference on lifelong learning will take place on 2 and 3 June in Thessaloniki, Greece.The EU has set itself a goal to become the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economic area in the world by 2010. Part of its strategy is improving the skills of workers and increasing innovative learning practices.

In this vein, the conference aims to discuss making lifelong learning a reality for all citizens in Europe. Researchers, policy makers and social partners will be invited to exchange best practices in the following areas:

– improving access, social exclusion;
– new pathways and pedagogies;
– making learning attractive.

CEDEFOP, the European reference centre for education and training, and the European Commission, will present the latest results from the Eurobarometer of what citizens think about, and to what extent they participate in lifelong learning.
